This seems like an hour of commute one way.
Do you have any recommendations for the best time/route to make the commute ?
Will a 10-6 job be better than a 9-5 job ?

Ouch, that's a rough commute. Maybe you get a break in the morning getting in at 10, but you're going to have a tough ride home out east most evenings leaving at 5 or 6. An 8-4 commute would really be best.

I don't know about that......even coming in at 8am the OP would probably be leaving Ronkonkoma around 7am and that is right SMACK in the middle of the morning rush hour on the LIE.....in some areas it's like a parking lot.

Plus leaving at 4pm the LIE isn't that great either.

Leaving at 9am to get to work for 10 would be a bit better, but getting out at 6pm you would still be in the evening rush hour....

I would say the best hours would be really early or really late.......maybe like 7-3 or 11-7
