How is Leisure Knoll in Ridge? (55+ Community)
My parents may be moving there so I thought I'd ask about this place.
Is it in a safe area? I've read a lot about the area on this site and it seems Ridge is a pretty decent place except for Strathmore Estates.
Apparently places are pretty cheap in Leisure Knoll, so I guess my only questions are, 1. Is it safe? and 2. Is there much to do in the area or is it a remote location?
Thanks for any info!

There was a guard who stopped us when we drove up to it. I was with a real estate agent at the time. From what I could tell, it was pretty far away from 25 and in a very wooded area. Three years ago the homes were going for low to mid $200,000. It then skyrocketed with the rest of the real estate, but seems to be going back down. They have a community center, tennis courts, and a pool. The neighboring community of Leisure Village (attached row type homes) has a golf course and the homeowners of Leisure Knolls can use the course.
I also, by mistake, went to see Strathmore Ridge. Horrible, horrible place. I believe that is much closer to 25 than the Leisures are. Stay way from anywhere here Gordon Heights. Very bad.
Would live to retire BACK to LI and Leisure Knolls would definitely be a consideration.

I live in Ridge & my husband is a carpenter & was referred by a customer to do a small job for a their parents living in Leisure Knoll. It snowballed into him doing small handyman things there on weekends for about fourty people in both Knoll & village. He still gets calls all the time but is just too busy now.All of the people he met were very nice & very happy living there, the homes were lovely. He did little things like upgrade interior doors, update fixtures, spackle & painting, moulding installation. Seemed like everyone wanted their little house to be as nice as it could be. They are a little secluded, there are a few medical buildings very close by & see their shuttle buss around shopping areas sometimes. I would consider that section of Ridge very safe, its close to the Shoreham border.
I think those communities are a terrific value for Long Island.

I believe only the most expensive Leisure Glen is in SWR, the others are Longwood. Its our claim to fame that we have the largest senior population of any district on LI & our bugdet still passes every year.

Wow - that's great! Sounds like they'd love it. They have a place in Florida, but most of the family is up this way, and I thought they'd never be able to live on LI.

In checking the prices of homes there on MLS, they have gone down substantially. Not much more now than Leisure Knolls.
Nice to see that I am not alone in wanting to LEAVE Florida and retire BACK to LI.

How Is The Board At Leisure Knoll?
Sometimes they respond to suggestions. It seems like they don't want to be questioned.
