I dont think any legislature ever passed a law saying that it is illegal to swap monthly tickets. Its a violation of the LIRR ticket tarrif rules. They cant do much to you other than what other posters said.

In any case, the Choo Choo Charlies and Charliettes are far from observant. Use the ticket.

Fare beating is still a crime. If you use a ticket thats not yours, and you refuse to pay it is a crime and not a tariff issue.

I got caught once using my husband's monthly. I had to pay the extra fare and they wrote "male only" on the ticket but they did not confiscate it. I've done it other times without getting caught but now if it is a weekend I usually drive. If I have even one person going with me then it is cheaper.

Wonder when they are going to make it illegal to run trains with overflowing toilets. Its a health issue.

We obviously know your distaste for the RR and its workers as evident in other forums.
Honestly, if you dont have anything constructive to say on the topic, why bother posting?

If you believe it is a health issue and it probably is, I recommend you report it to the RR and the relevant Dept of Health where it happened.

Other forums? I have never posted anything on any other CD forum about the LIRR...what do they care about the LIRR. You must be confusing me with another concerned commuter.

I have reported trains with foul and fetid cars. I always inquire of the Conductor why they brought this train out of the yard. After all, they do have the authority to not run a train. Of course, the standard answer is something like..."you do want to get home, dont you"

And to the OP...yes, Choo Choo Charlie can do his job properly and not allow you to travel on someone else's monthly...as you can see, they pick and choose what rules they want to enforce.

I meant other postings on this forum.

A non-working bathroom is not an official reason according to the FRA to not run a train. There only needs to be 1 working bathroom if the trip is over an hour. Anything less than an hour does not require a bathroom.

The RR has "spotters" out there to make sure the trainpeople are doing their jobs. They ride with fake, expired, and no tickets to make sure trainpeople are collecting fares.

Non working bathrooms are one thing...overflowing are another.

Im glad they have spotters. I consider myself a "voluntary" spotter.

If I'm caught, will the fact that there are no weeks punched in at all make any difference? Since that obviously shows it hasn't been used? Or are they really inconsistent with punching those numbers in general?
bring cash in case. if the ticket is confiscated, there is a chance, they will make you pay full fare plus the $5 on board penalty. that is the potential slap on the wrist if they are nice to you. just a reccomendation
