You can continue to talk to the non transferrable ticket issue. TECHNICALLY when 1 person uses 1 ticket there is no shortchanging the LIRR. Please separate the two.

What part of the words "NOT TRANSFERRABLE" are you not getting????
Its written right on the monthly ticket. To use small words for you to comprehend.... if you didnt use it the first time during the month, you cant give it to anyone else!! Person B is not supposed to be using a ticket for Person A. You are committing fare evasion.

Right from the MTA website:

MULTIPLE-RIDE TICKET TYPES
If you are going to travel for more than one day, you may save money purchasing one of our multiple-ride tickets. Monthly and weekly tickets are non-transferable. They are for the exclusive use of the person who first presents them, must be signed by the owner, and are subject to confiscation if used by anyone other than the owner.
Monthly

Good for unlimited rides during the calendar month indicated on the ticket. On sale starting the 20th of the month prior to the valid month of travel (for example: on May 20th you can buy June's ticket) at Ticket Offices and Ticket Machines. Sold in advance from WebTicket. Non-transferable.
Weekly

Good for unlimited rides Saturday through Friday; expiration date indicated on the face of the ticket. On sale starting the Wednesday before the Saturday that the ticket becomes valid. Sold in advance from WebTicket. Non-transferable.
Ten-Trip

Good for ten one-way rides from/to City Zone 1 only. Valid for 6 months (including date of sale). Available from WebTicket. Transferable - can be used by more than one person even when they are traveling together.

All ado about nothing.

Truly this is so small an issue but the LIRR and its valiant, dedicated employees will root out all abuses of the system. How many chances are there that there will be a mis-use of a monthly. I would say far less than 1% of all monthlies would ever be given to another person to use. And lets face it, clipping it either Male or Female would only cut down maybe half the abuse.

But leave it to the Choo Choos to make a mountain out of a molehill...and all the time ignoring collecting the fares from those that they cower in fear of.

Revenue loss doesn't matter much any way you do it - ever been on those packed trains around holiday weekends where everyone is standing in the aisle and no one bothers to collect tickets? You could easily not pay for a ticket those days and chances are you get a free ride.

We get your distaste for the RR employees. I am not an RR employee but how would you like it if someone called your profession by a name.

Please dont even attempt to elevate Conductor/TicketPuncher/DoorOpener to a "profession".

I really dont have a dislike for RR employees. I have a dislike for paying so much money for poor service, worse attitude, corruption, inefficiency, and laziness....all embodied by Conductors...probably the worst of all LIRR employees.
