I agree. Lots about Long Island has changed. I just pointed out VS because that is where I grew up.
And you live in Baldwin now, whose glory days were 30-40 years ago. Baldwin, a massive drop in school district quality and neighborhood QOL compared to VS. 'Nuff said. You're just mad about what I said about Baldwin.
Don't take it so personal It's a matter of preference! If you like living in a certain area so be it!
We're all different..there is no right or wrong answer here. It doesn't matter your profession, race, economic status, orientation, gender, etc, etc. If you enjoy where you live...stay...if not move!
Web message-board arguments are very seldom won especially when it's a matter of opinion. Just enjoy life and take what others say with a grain of salt

I bought where I could afford as a single person and not to keep up with the Joneses. Also because all of my family are still in VS so its close and the close commute to the city.
Baldwin has deteriorated as well. As I said, lots about Long Island has.
You seem to be awfully angry about anyone that has a contrary opinion about VS.

Oh no! You're making too much sense! But then we wouldn't have anything to debate and bicker over. I might as well be posting in the "Concrete Stamping" thread!

It's hilarious that you have went from the proverbial frying pan into the fire in your choice of locations. And why is your family still in VS if it's so horrible according to you? Are they dumb or stupid?

:-) Neither that one family member that is there feels like you do about VS so stayed And probably will until death. In fact are you him? LOL cuz we have these same exact arguments all the time
As far as Baldwin, I know. You are right. I wish I had known back then but I had just moved back from Cali and knew I didn't want VS. Needed an affordable place right away with easy commute to city so Baldwin it was.
The small area where my house is very nice actually, quiet, nice neighbors but I would like to leave now. Just not sure where to go (as in even possibly leave NY again too) so for now, just counting the time until I know.
Easy on defending VS. I love it as much as you but I'm not blind to what's happening there.
Also, 10 out of 10 people would choose to live in Merrick over VS, so slow your roll.
What's happening here? OMG! I only live here! Who would have known! It's so CUTE that you believe in the "bogeyman!" Do you tell "bogeyman" stories to your kids every night about VS? I call BS on the "you love it" nonsense. Please!
BS on the 10 out of 10 nonsense. Well, for starters I am glad the Forbes chose Merrick instead of VS. However, if your silly assertion was actually true then no houses would be bought in VS and instead would be bought in Merrick. VS has buyers at all price ranges that Merrick has except the primo southern Merrick waterfront areas like where the Forbes lived. Sadly, we lack a waterfront here. There are also plenty of crappy little homes in Merrick that I am sure YOU are intimately familiar with so the place is "not all that." The totality of Merrick is not that impressive and nothing out of the ordinary for LI, except the rest of Merrick has its fabled south area to ride the coat tails of. If someone can afford living there, they are the ones who can brag about how great Merrick is. The rest of Merrick is blandly pleasant with a few shabby parts to the north, but totally ordinary compared to its peers on LI.
Still don't see anyone posting specifically WHAT has changed for the worse in Valley Stream. Really makes me wonder why so many say the town is no good when they can't really say exactly what isn't good about it!
