We are purchasing a house in Rockville Centre and need a termite inspector. We don't want to use Terminix because they have the termite contract on the house and we'd like an independent company to evaluate it. Can anyone give me any leads? I've called a bunch of places and they won't do it. Thanks in advance!

Are you having a pre-purchase home inspection done? If so, most of the inspectors do the termite inspection at the same time, and they do not have an interest in the outcome.

I was just going to suggest this. The termite inspection was included when we had our inspection done. I agree--there is no interest for them regardless of the outcome. They just tell you what's there or not there.

Thanks, yes. The inspector found past evidence of termintes but no current ongoing termites. The house has been under a termite contract for 20+ years. Our contract allows us to have a termite inspection 15 days after signing the contract and we were hoping to get one more person out there to verify there are no active termites. We don't want Terminix because they have had the contract (thus will definitely say there are no active termites).

Thanks for any suggestions!
