Decent proposals. 2 ambitious, 2 smaller (1 w new arena, one interior refurb only). All private money. Really comes down to Ratner vs MSG. Ratner offering 300+ events per year, sweetens the pot with some Islander home games to be played and Jay Z's concert promotion power. MSG offers more seats, most likely chance for WNBA or AHL team (already own the Ct. Whale) and lots of Knicks/Rangers cross-promotion. All good proposals and all promise at least an AHL franchise, but of course the giant elephant in the room, Kate Murray and ToH (ooops, that came out wrong now didn't it ) barely gets a mention although they are of course the major roadblock to ANY plan going forward. And what did she have to say.... "we haven't reviewed any of the proposals but we are impressed with the quality of the developers." Am I reading too much into it or does that sound like the usual snide/defensive/obstructionist gearing up to park ToH's bloated carcass in the way of progress once again?!

I dont get why the ToH gets any say in this at all since its on County land that was given to the County by the Feds post WWII. Granted I know its physically in ToH, but the fact the County owns it should allow it to say up yours.

Ratner's proposal actually sounds very promising. Im not sure Murray will try to stop this. It is no where near the size/scope as lighthouse project was. There is no residential etc. But you never know.

Only the Ratner and MSG proposals were decent. The other two sounded like they were scribbled on the back of an envelope an hour before.

Ratner is a visionary and his proposal was, by far, the best. He's proven his worth with the unqualified success of Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The only question is whether the proposal is too visionary for the pea brains who run Nassau. I believe Ratner has a slight edge over MSG not because his ideas are good for the people of the county (God forbid!), but because MSG and the Dolans support Democrat Tom Suozzi for county executive. It really depends on how much money Ratner is willing to shovel into the Republican coffers and how many patronage jobs his project will create. After all, that's really what it's all about in Nassau.

Disagree with the 1st part of the post and of course agree with the rest. The 2 smaller proposals cater more to the points I made and don't impact toH much so have a better chance of actually coming to fruition. The better and more ambitious a plan the more every dipstick politico will make their bones by getting in the way. Remember to add the 2 billion piece of the plan Mangano already worked out with the other developer who gets the surrounding area. Put it all together and it's only a billion or so less than the Lighthouse Project. Ultimately we'll get something between Ratner's/MSG's proposals and a strip mall with Subway, check cashing joint and Walgreens anchor. Our cynicism would be funnier if we didn't both know we were right and will ultimately end disappointed by these clowns in office.

I'd be highly skeptical if they proposed half that number. 300+ is pie-in-the-sky nonsense.

I'm curious to know what arena in the U.S. has the most days booked, and what that number is. The Sprint Center in Kansas City -- where the Islanders were rumored to be headed for so long -- currently has tickets available for 19 event dates between now and October.

The Honda Center in Anaheim, which has a successful NHL team as a main tenant AND a separate 8,000-seat arena for shows, currently has tickets available for 17 event dates from now through November.

Simply because it falls under the reign of ToH. They are responsible for the town services to this area. Unless of course they give it to Native Americans or annex this part of Uniondale/East Garden City as its own city, and I imagine the process for that one is difficult.

Good luck though to ANYONE dealing with ToH. Kate Murray should be ashamed of herself for what economic dismay she brought to the Island(ers). She's a slob, and anyone who lives in the ToH should force a recall election and let their **** poor local government know they need a change.
