I recently moved to Nassau and our home was hooked in the the sewer system by the previous owners.

Would I be able to find records related to not only the sewer conversion but the proper closing and back fill of the cesspool?

The reason I asked is that our neighbors discovered a near cave as their cesspool was not properly closed. Even though everything appeared normal, I understand the front yard was in a 'near collapse' condition and it took 4 truck loads of dirt to fill in.

I'd like to get my property checked out to make sure things are safe for the family, kids, and visitors. Is there a non-invasive, inexpensive way of getting my prior septic system evaluated?

Not really. The county will not have info on the cesspool abandonment.
