Deer Seen on Long Island
I was at Robert Moses Field 2 in September and there was a deer right next to my car in the PARKING LOT! I loved it!

It really must have scared the daylights out of him!
Maybe it was trying to catch a ride?

Deer
I always go to Robert Moses Field 2. All year, but of course often in the summer. I was going to my car and there was a deer right next to it! I mid-July!
I also saw plenty of deer at Sailor's Haven on Fire Island.

They have been migrating west for some time now, primarily along the north shore.

One of the reasons I prefer Nassau to Suffolk is a lack of deer. My former boss got Lymes disease and had to be hooked up to some sort of infusion pump that he wore to work. He got it because of his summer home on Fire Island. He kept going to the home and he got infected multiple times. My neighbor spent too much time in Suffolk County in the woods and got it too and he had an IV thing set up in his home he had to sit at. My brother's dog got it out in Suffolk County and had $$$ vet bills. Deer carry ticks that carry this disease, they cause traffic accidents, they tear up people's yards. I prefer not living around them. I also prefer not being around bears, snakes, tropical bugs, etc. I LIKE streetlights. I don't like winding mountain roads with no fences. I am just not a country girl at heart!

I saw a fox last summer on Port Washington Boulevard in front of the North Hempstead Country Club in Flower Hill. Absolutely shocked to see it, though others have said that they are occasionally spotted at the Sands Point and Guggenheim Preserves.
As for Deer, I saw one right at the entrance (from Route 25) to Tanger Outlets in Riverhead. They are also all over the place on Shelter Island. Haven't seen them in Nassau as of yet.
