It looks like Long Island is not so bad off after all. Could it be any of the following below

1. Long Island has already passed through this phase already.
2. Our numbers are off because we did not experience the population growth
3. Our close proximity to NYC/Manhattan(specifically) and the money people make working there gives us a false sense of security

I think another big factor is that Long Island already has an incredibly high cost of living (I believe we are tied with the SF Bay Area as the nation's highest cost of living suburban areas) and this I think is why the 2008 recession and ongoing economic difficulty have not hit us nearly as bad as many other areas.

Old news... Stats are from 2 years ago... 2008-2010 was the hight of the recession, bank crisis, unemployment, housing fiasco, etc.

This is the middle of 2013 and a lot had changed in the last two years.., big recovery...

Give us the numbers from 2011-2013 and that chart and stats would look the opposite..
