We had to knock our house down due to Sandy.
Since it's been down, kids from the neighborhood have been using it to play in .
We even caught some kids breaking into a shed that is still standing on the property.
Today, we found an empty box of fireworks sitting right in the middle of where our house used to sit.
What can we do to keep people off our property? I called the police and they said all they can do is add more patrol cars in the neighborhood, but that does nothing.
What else can I do? Besides spending a couple grand on a chain link fence which I already got an estimate for, as if we haven't spent enough already.
Sorry for your loss due to Sandy. It surely did hit your area hard as well as the coastal parts of Connecticut. We are mid-state here in CT and did have some damage but nothing like what you experienced. As far as trespassers on your property...I am afraid there isn't much you can do aside from posting it that it is NO TRESPASSING and that "Violators will be Prosecuted"...and then there is the chain link fence. Try the sign by itself first; unless you already have but I am afraid a fence just might be the only way. Sad that more respect can't be shown for your property. Good Luck with this.
thanks for the great ideas! we now have the signs up, and have roped off the entry ways to hopefully deter them.
we know who the kids are. a witness says the parents of one of the kids were hanging out in their yard seeing the kids come & go from our property, but said/ did nothing. after confronting them, they assured us it wouldn't happen again. but something is happening every time we go back to check on the site.
i found a nearby church helping the town get back to normalcy, and they have offered to help us put a temporary fence up. i'm am feeling so grateful. thank you all for the great ideas!
eh, you are probably right....fine, I will go with the cow manure idea....good for your soil!
I like this idea. When they bring it home on the bottom of their shoes their parents will tell them to stay out of there.
