Anyone know why the Moriches real estate is on the cheaper side with such big property? and what is the difference in East and Center?

For one, it is very far from the city, so it is not a viable option if you need to commute to the city. Also, what school district is Moriches in? I assume one that isn't any good. School districts are the most important factor when determining housing costs.

I know it's way more fun to assume things then to let the people who actually know anything weigh in, but just in case the OP actually wants real information, here's some.

Center Moriches is in - gasp, shocker - the Center Moriches School District. East Moriches is in - wait for it, another tough one to figure out here - the East Moriches School District.

Center Moriches is a full K-12 school district. It's not awful, but not particularly good.
East Moriches is a K-8 district, with a choice of high schools from the neighboring districts (I believe the choices are Center Moriches, Eastport, and Westhampton, but that may have changed - my knowledge of the high school thing is admittedly about 10 years out-of-date).

Moriches is actually part of the William Floyd School District which is different from Center and East Moriches that have their own school districts.

Right on. It's actually a very specific area..Crystal Beach Blvd. There are a few houses on Montauk that are also absorbed into WFSD.

You've already agreed with me that Center Moriches school district is no good. And another poster said Moriches goes to William Floyd school district, which is also no good. And it's definitely far from the city.

school district is not important for me. I don't have kids. What is important is that I will be able to walk my dog safely at night.
It is far from the city, which i'm leaving, but i work from home, so it is ok.
Are there parts of CM or EM that I want to avoid?
