Nobody is disputing the political aspect but the reality is that there are also technical reasons why NG prices in LI are where they are. The technical things - those become within your control as technology advances. Polititcal factors? Maybe, maybe not. As I said, leakages and bottlenecks happen and they do add to cost. It does matter if you can find a way to minimize them.

So are you saying the leakages and bottlenecks are the technical causes behind the high NG costs in the Metro NY area? I'm not sure what your point is.

I think we both agree, the Jones Beach Terminal is beneficial, even if it only benefits a few.

They are A reason why NG costs are high. A major and obvious reason. And it can be mitigated with the LNG terminal.

The article you cite seems to focus on New England, which is a different region altogether. Besides the regional differences, I'd still bet someone living in suburban Boston pays less per therm than LI residents do.
As far as Boston there IS an LNG terminal right in downtown Boston. Ships come in there all the time. Not sure about the therm pricing as LNG usually has a higher overall BTU content which could affect that. Then again Boston, Masssachussetts and Rhode Island is National Grid too.

Not to be critical but your statement on the Iroquois pipeline is not entirely correct.
