I have a bagless windtunnel vacuum and can see it picks up a lot of dust every week as it is. I can't imagine how much worse it would be if everyone walked around the house with outside shoes on. I'm no germaphobe - it just doesn't make sense to purposely do that.
Do you take your shoes off if you need to run inside to get something?

I must be the exception, we normally wear shoes in the house and I will go to the mailbox barefooted if they happen to be off.

We do...we taught the kids not to be lazy..it takes 5 seconds to take off their shoes.

My kids also have a lot of friends and these kids are out in muddy fields, parks, courts, sand, etc...last thing I need is 12 or 14 teenagers walking through my house with those sneakers on .

Everyone that comes to my house knows our rule no shoes in the house!

Any of you mandatory no shoe people have dogs? Do the "gross feeling" people go to the beach or pool? Do you wear water shoes? I have a new house with new wood floors and I don't make people take off their shoes. I believe it's actually disrespectful to ask other adults to do so. Dirty kids are a different story but, unless I saw actual dirt I wouldn't ask either. As for barefooting around the yard, it does feel great. Not out to the store but, to grab the mail or put out trash without a doubt.

5 seconds? Us adults wear shoes with laces (I kid ) and you have to sit down, untie your shoes, take them off, do what you wanted to do, sit back down, put your shoes back on, retie them and be on your way. Takes a bit longer than 5 seconds for something so trivial.

Ever think about what you walk on in a given day... Take the back of your shoe and put it under a microscope then get back to me....of course I'm joking.

We just prefer no shoes in the home... Some agree some don't. No biggie

Different strokes, I guess.

Do you wash your hands before you touch anything in the house?

The fact there is a web site and articles on the shoe subject shows that people need to get a life. To make life so granular that whether shoes are worn/or not in a home is a debate is too much..

To each his own, LG (Lifes Good)
