I need a new oil burner. I am torn between the $5000 model, which is fine, or the $10,000 Cadillac version which will have a hot water tank, plus shut off when not in use, as well as some other features. I plan to sell my house in about 4-5 years. Would the better system truly give me an edge? I don't think so, but of course the sales people tell you absolutely. Not sure which I should get. What do you have? What would you get? BTW, I have had Petro for 27 years and never had a problem. Prompt service and always professional. I know they are higher priced, but I stayed with them and am a satisfied customer. Not changing now. Thank you for your input.

Is a conversion to gas an option? This will make your house more attractive when you sell.
You can get a top grade Peerless boiler with a Riello burner and a domestic storage tank installed for about $6500-$7000. Its as good as you are going to get with oil.
Curious to know what $10k rig they were selling ya?

Seriously, I was an oil customer and while my home sold very quickly the broker did say in her ad. Gas stove easy to convert. If at all possible that is how I would go too. I would have done it myself but 2 years before we sold the burner went in Feb.....not a time to be shopping for heat!!!! other wise I would have converted.
When the sales person comes Monday evening I will let you know the details of exactly what they are offering to us. Today I was to have my annual cleaning and I know my burner is on it's last leg, so it was no surprise when the rep came and told me that it was in bad shape. I told him not to bother cleaning it and we would go ahead with a new one. I am going to need it, so I might as well do it now. All he said is that there is the $5000 model which is fine. Then there's the $10,000 model which has the hot water tank and other features, but the specifics weren't discussed. I will get on here and right as soon as I have info.
As for conversion, I would love to but I have heard that there are no gas lines available to homes in my development. I am in process of googling to get info. Does anyone know a place to call?
THANKS
