Generally $10 a zone seems to be the going rate. As mentioned elsewhere, no need to call someone to open the system in the Spring.

We paid someone to do ours today. $50 bucks for 7 zones. After seeing how he does it, it might be beneficial to do it ourselves next year.

The guy who did mine last year is a little jerk. Tried to get me to buy a bunch of new sprinkler heads that were working fine. I'm getting REALLY tired of con artists. I'm going to ask a neighbor of mine to show me how to do it so I can get rid of the little twerp. How much does the compressor cost?

Us neither! We were a little nervous doing it ourselves, but we saw how the guy did it this time and think we can do it ourselves for next year.

A small compressor will have no problem one zone at a time. Just cycle through a few times for each zone to make sure you are completely clear. For 80-100/year you will pay for your compressor in 2 years tops, plus have it for all the other times you need air.....

The thought of 80/house makes me seriously contemplate packing up my compressor and fittings and making a grand next weekend!

If I buy a compressor, where do you blow the valves out? At the box? How do you clear the line out from the main line to the box?
