I am absolutely sure I could also find dislikes of Long Island if I looked hard and long enough. But where are you gonna find a place where the people are so much fun ?

I do admit to avoiding visiting up or out of state on holidays -- the traffic is killer, no sugar coating the truth. I recall it taking me 7.5 hours to get from Albany to Massapequa one Thanksgiving Eve. It was INSANE!!!
Even now, my friends and I are on and off LI frequently(not just to Florida LOL). Can we be the minority?

No way a minority.... I spend not less than 15 weekends in a year outside long island.... the driving, the traffic, the tolls are all bad, but hey don't let it spoil the fun with friends and family.... on the way back, the moment I hit LIE it feels like I'm home (even though I have to drive another hour on LIE !!)

It is true it is harder to take CAR trips to other places in the Northeast or Mid Atlantic when you live on Long Island it simply takes an extra hour or more to get to the mainland.
Still we have great beaches, fishing, quaint villages and golf right here --- unlike most suburban areas which are strictly bedroom communities, Long Island is part bedroom part resort.
We also have good rail transport to one of the greatest cities in the world.
Finally we also have good AIR traveling options with two major airports (although I hate LaGuardia) and a third and my favorite -- LI Mac.
