train lines and the beaches are advantages of the south shore. as far as beauty/geography, I think it's north shore hands down. I used to live on south shore but am in glen head now and we are much happier in general.
- Much more reasonably priced (by comparison)
- Far easier access to LIE/Parkways
- Better beaches (less rocky and painful)
- Much less snobby on average
- Generally MUCH more walkable and convenient (by comparison)
- More driveable since icy and hilly roads DO NOT mix. lol, when im driving on the north shore in winter, i hold on for dear life!

Grew up in a development on the south shore of Nassau. Bought on the north shore in Suffolk.
Growing up we had to drive to our slip. Here I can walk to my slip.
Growing up we had to drive to the LIRR. Here I can walk to it.
Growing up our neighbor across the street would say, "God bless you," from his house when my mom sneezed in ours. Here the neighbors are further apart.
Growing up I didn't have an accent. Here I do LOL
Growing up just about every household had 1 person who worked in NYC. Here there aren't nearly as many.
Growing up there were snobby people. Same here.
I had a good childhood on the south shore. No complaints. As an adult, I prefer having space around me, trees, and some hills. If I could, I would he upstate or in New England in a small town. Since I can't be, this is the next best thing.
