Hi all,
We're getting ready to move to RVC. Noticed on mynassauproperty that school taxes on our property will increase by +8.9% in 2014. We currently do not have any children (don't ask why we're moving).

My question is- aside from STAR, do we qualify for a tax grievance or exemption of any sort because we do not have any children? Appreciate any thoughts.

Nope. Everyone who lives in the community pays school taxes. There are no exceptions.

NO. You may grieve the property taxes and see where you get however. Go to mynassauproperty.com and check on the taxes section under ARC to see if any previous grievances were filed for by the prior owners. If not, you may well save a bit, if so, you could well be on par with the county projection for your home.

I sometimes rather people ask then assume things. this is one silly inquiry.

If I never had a fire in my house for 10+ years, can I pay less tax? I also put out less garbage, do I get some discount as well?

in all seriousness, you can join a volunteer firefighter or ambulance....or join the military....you probably get a small reduction in your taxes.
