They should get off the island (New York, Great Neck: for sale, house, to live in)

I don't know. When i talk to people from the city or they visit, they say LI is the home of the "rich, white kids" so I don't think everyone from the city thinks they are superior to us...
When we lived on Long Island, my family and I felt the same way. They're boastful, loud, rude, and very crude. They consider Long Island to be boring suburbia where there is nothing to do, yet they still move there. It doesn't make sense to me.
I'm a former Long Island resident (Suffolk County) and my experiences were the opposite. Yes, there were a few jerks, but I found the majority of the Brooklyn and Queens transplants to be very friendly and down to earth. Most that I ran into really liked Long Island and sounded disgusted with Brooklyn and Queens.
funny, many old timers on LI ask me where I am from. I seem to get a slight pause when I say manhattan. I grew up in queens which seem to get less of a reaction. No clue what is all the fuss really.

Kinda defeats the purpose right? Escape to the 'burbs to get away from the concrete jungle yet many western transplants renovate their homes similar to where they came from.
Just sayin'...
I admit i just moved in Levittown a month ago. I hate the city ( where i come from). but i hate those people who think they're special because they're from the city.
I hate when they move in and cut down every tree and cement every square inch of the property.
Local lady is trying to sell her home and between the pool, pavers, and concrete, she hasn't got a usuable backyard for children. She created a small play area. It's not attractive. The interior looks like Benjamin Moore test sampled a Brooklyn mafioso's home.
My family came from Bayside to Suffolk in the early 80's. We came this way to get away from the craziness of the city, fresher air to breathe, a backyard, and a more family friendly environment. Honestly transplants can't be grouped entirely the same. If that were the case, i'd say that most kids that were born on long island from the early 90's on are spoiled entitled brats from what i've seen. The truth is that whether you are originally from manhattan, the bronx, brooklyn, queens, or long island, you get some good ones and some that act like idiots. No one has a monopoly on either.
With that said, Long island does have to keep some of its areas like the north fork(east of riverhead) alone. It's getting crowded enough. No need to build on every inch of land here.

Well, now they're leaving LI and moving down South...where they are developing every square inch of land with McMansions all the while talking (loudly bien sur) about how much better everything was on LI or NYC where they came from...
