Hello,

So this is our first winter in a new house, which we finished remodeling last year around September. We installed New Central System, with Heat/AC. There are 3 zones with 2 high efficiency units, LED everywhere in the house, new fridge energy star, new TVs all new. We converted from Oil to Gas. So for the September, October, November the bills seemed ok. around 140 for electric and around 90-170$ for gas.

This month the gas bill came for 386$ and Electric came for 320$, I some what can understand the Gas it has been cold, but why is electric so high ? I know the blower has to spread the heat, but 200$ more then usual ? Yes last bill was estimate for both, but even so the 2 months together brings the GAS to 550$ ($278/month) and electric $460 ($230/month). Seems so high or is this just the winter we are having and this should not be judged as a base line ?

Seems so high to me... Anyone else in LI this winter seen this ? Any feedback is appreciated !

Thanks in advance.

House is same size.. We bought it in 2012 sept and moved in Sept 2013... fully renovated, new windows insulation and all.

I have 3 thermostats, 1 Nest and 2 honeywell.... There is usually no one home during the day and my thermostats for the day are set to 62.

Are your bills much higher then last years for the same months ? I`m really hopping that this is due to the cold snap we are having....

It's a number of things. One the cold snap that that we are experiencing and it may have been an estimate for the previous bill so they did an actual reading and the extra charges are the adjustments.

If you had Christmas lights up that will jack up your electric bill.
