Back when I was in Queens, I was able to read the Times Ledger for the Flushing Times or Whitestone Times. Or even the Queens Courier.
They had articles more specific to the area that the major papers like NYPost or Daily News would ignore.
Is there any similar papers (online or actual paper) for Suffolk County areas? For me, more specifically for Smithtown/St.James area? I found the website patch.com, but it doesn't seem very good, and looking for other recommendation.
I know there's the Three Village Times that serves the area of the Three Villages.
There was once two weekly locals -- The Village Times and the Herald. The Times bought the Herald. It is now The Village Times Herald and falls under the group I mentioned in my previous post.
Patch is a hit or miss. It really depends on the journalist in your area, but I believe the website in its entirety is on a downward trend. It used to be good.
Pennysaver comes out every week but if you go to a supermarket, on the way out check by the windows in the doorway. A lot of times they have the local papers for that area.
I've still yet to visit our very expensive libraries here in smithtown.
