Best car route 5pm midweek Jamaica Queens to Oakdale? (Hempstead: versus, commute)

That's a nightmare time no matter which way you slice it. Where in Oakdale? Once you get to Sagtikos, you might be better off going via 27A versus Sunrise, because the Oakdale merge can be pretty terrible.

It's not horrible but will take over an hour. Make a scenic trip out of it and take southern state/ meadow brook/ ocean pkwy.

I'd probably take the Cross Island North to the Northern State (Grand Central) headed east.

I would take Northern State to the Meadowbrook south.

Take Meadowbrook south to Old Country Road headed east.

Take Old COuntry Road to Wantagh Parkway South.

Take Wantagh Parkway South to Hempstead Turnpike (24) headed east.

Take Hempstead Turnpike to Route 135 North.

Take 135 North to the LIE Eastbound

Take LIE East to Route 110 South

Take 110 South to Southern State East.

Take Southern State East until Robert Moses Parkway South

Take Robert Moses Parkway South until Sunrise Highway East

Take Sunrise Highway to Oakdale

Simple.

I've done the commute from Central Nassau to Jamaica for two years and Central Nassau to Bohemia a couple of times.

The HOV lane to the Sagtikos Parkway actually sounds like a sound idea (I've never done it before).

Regarding your other options, it's truly hit or miss.

Most times, I would take the Northern State Parkway to the Meadowbrook Parkway and head east on the Southern State. Otherwise, you could take the Cross Island to the Southern State. If you have a smartphone, I would look it up on Waze before leaving, because the two routes take roughly the same amount of time, but traffic is the Pandora's box.

Of course, there's also the suggestion to have fun and take Ocean Parkway across (again, look at the traffic maps to see if it's faster to access the Meadowbrook from the N/S State Parkway).

Good suggestions thanks. I have been watching the traffic on INRIX app and the northern state to meadowbrook to ocean pky looks the best.

whenever I'm coming back from JFK around that time, I take ocean pkwy. It's a breeze.

Why the LIRR is much faster and has express service to where your going 1st stop is Babylon it's a 59 min trip on LIRR. Which part of oakdale are you heading to?
