There generally aren't. Long Islanders just enjoy creating as many levels of stratification as possible, so everyone gets to feel superior to someone else.

I disagree, much like paying a premium for living incrementally closer to the water I feel that for some people being within walking distance to your child's school it's worth that premium. If I had know that my kid was only going to the closest school for two years I may not have chosen that area.

@nycbrooklyn, the reason I bought my house was because of the school system and I believe that many people in the island do the same. That's the reason my tiny house costs double what the same house costs in wyandanch or CI. Your odd disbelief that someone would place value in what school their children goes to is strange.

Two things. I understand people mortgage their future for the right school district. I said I could not believe you bought your house because and paid a premium because it's within walking distance. Generally a lot of people are not jumping for joy about living across the street from a house. School district is a different story.

I also have one other question. Were you going to sell your house when your child started Junior or High school. Oh and living within walking distance of a school is nothing like buying by the water
