I don't understand your point. My children attended high quality private pre-k programs. The programs have been beneficial to their development. I didn't send them there for babysitting.

You may think the NYC proposal, as structured, is akin to daycare and you're entitled to your opinion. However, there are quality programs of shorter duration which are enriching.

And what high quality learning did your little sunflowers obtain? Pre-K chemistry? Pre-K Calculus...

or was it higher level babysitting so you could have the some of the day to yourself?

Is the Pre-k program structured so that Buffy and Jody are on the road to Harvard?

A Pre-K program is only as good as the students who attend and the caliber of parenting they are receiving at home.
How many of the inner city children from broken homes, who come from families which have been working the system for a couple of generations, will actually benefit?

It will get them out of the projects for a few hours at best. It gives Mamma and GrandMamma a chance to go shopping at Walmarts.

Im sure the next thing the mayor of NYC will be screaming that these Pre-Kers needs nutritious breakfasts and lunch.

That is actually a great idea. we'll probably save some money on health care in the long run.

Guess you don't get out into poor areas much or deal with ghetto types.

That's typical of out of touch social liberals.

hmm interesting assumption. You are wrong though. Not sure what your point is? Yes there are people who are menace to society probably no more so when small number of white collar crime types who live in more affluent parts.

When my family came to US I was a beneficiary of a free lunch program in NYC (do not worry I paid my dues in taxes probably 500x by now) and it was total crap -- i remember all the pizzas, fries and burgers and fountain sodas would be nice if healthier options were available.

Nice of me to probably pay for your first meals. Sorry they weren't whole nuts, berries and tofu.
