Only 1,000 checks mailed last week of 2014.

The bulk of checks, 4,000 to be mailed next week. Per Nassau County Assessor office.

If you email ncsandyrelief@nassaucountyny.gov they can give you the actual amount of check and when you should get it as the 4,000 checks are already approved.

I emailed them, their response:

"Your refund has not been sent yet. Because there was a sale/transfer recorded to the deed, the verification process requires more time. Your refund will be sent to the address you provided us below. We expect the refunds to be sent out within the next few weeks."

The deed was transferred from a deceased parent in 2012. They told me in August that they expect the refund to be sent out in the fall, we see how that worked out. I'm curious to see how long this "next few weeks" will be.

I heard also folks with enhanced star, veterans exemptions, condos, coops or anything unusual is getting delayed checks.

Only primary single family homeowners receiving no star exemption or the basic star exemption are receiving checks in January 2014.

Supposedly they were mailed to folks with basic star and checks should be arriving by the weekend.

I find it very strange that folks with enhanced star are getting it last. They are older folks on limited incomes you would think they would be the checks processed first.
