I have seen one in the parking lot of my job, twice, in Pt Jeff Station. It is very distinctive looking and will be watching more closely for this beautiful animal.
On occasion, a red/grey squirrel will kill a black squirrel and vice-versa. They also will kill baby birds and eat bird eggs. Tree squirrels will sometimes eat their young. These guys are rodents and have similarities to rats and mice.

FIL called them "tree-rats".
BTW, there is also a cluster of black squirrels at Brunswick Plantation Golf Course in South Carolina.
