Thanks for saying that. I remember Herb Sheldon, but I lived in Roslyn & everyone there knew and loved your Dad. He was so congenial and really ahead of his time. You must miss him very much, even after all this time. I am wondering if you are Randy or Amy (those are the two names I can remember). You can PM me if you would like to.

[quote=Fun City Man;5175269]Exactly 50 years ago this evening?
"The Three Stooges Funhouse!"debuted on WPIX TV Ch.11
in NYC.
OMG, I am old!
(new to this forum, however)
I bet there is a lot of memories on here, but here's a few of mine.
I remember Officer Joe Bolton, whistled, didn't he? but I must have seen him in reruns, or on another show.
How About Chuck McCann? He called me up on stage when he used to do shows at Palisades Amusement park - he said I looked just like his son.
I got to meet Soupy Sales, after I was an adult, at a comedy club in Patchogue. He was the MC, and I told a joke for a contest.
I have a lot of memories of TV pre-1966... I don't know why.
- see you around

Did we forget Paul Tripp?
I met all those guys too. Yup Officer Joe whistled and twirled a night stick. My dad was a cop so to me that was cool.
Met Chuck at a meet and greet, Paul Tripp at the Deer Park movie theater for a publicity appearance for his movie "The Christmas That Almost Wasn't", and Joe Flynn. Met Soupy at a Broadway play.
Here's some info on Paul Tripp. One thing that I didn't know was that he was one of the composers of "Tubby the Tuba". Nice legacy to leave behind.
Paul Tripp / Mr. I. Magination
Paul Tripp (I) - Biography
The History of Tubby The Tuba
A nice piece about Paul and Tubby from NPR after Paul's death.

Dear ERacerX,
Actually?
"Officer Joe"didn't whistle on "The Three Stooges Funhouse"
on Ch.11.
The show opened with a close of a Moe Balloon..which was popped,
then a Larry Balloon..which was also popped and then..?
A Curly Baloon was popped and then..the camera would do a long,
slow pan of the amusement park backdrop(A painted canvas backdrop of
circus tents, merry go rounds, roller coasters and ferris wheels)..until..
The camera stopped at the front gates of"The Three Stooges Funhouse!"
and "Officer Joe"would step from behind the gates and talk one on one with
the kid at home..prior to starting the film for that evening's broadcast.
He also didn't whistle at the start of"The Dick Tracy Show"(Which was
set against the backdrop of a police chief' office and Bolton was the show's
police chief).."Officer Joe" didn't whistle at that start of his show...until?
The debut of'The Three Stooges Show"on WPIX TV Ch.11 in
NYC in February,1964.
That prorgam was set against the backdrop of a police station..Bolton was once again a cop..
the camera would pan the set and the show's credits would be super imposed
on the scene.
The tune"The Whistler And His Dog"would be heard and "Officer Joe"
would walk onto the set..whistling the tune and twiriling his baton.
Sporting his cop's uniform and talking to the kid at home.
Ah!
Sweet,wonderful memories!
Thanks For Your Reply And Thanks For Remembering
"Officer Joe" Bolton and "The Three Stooges",

Dear ERacerX,
I also got to see Chuck McCann and The Paul Ashley Puppets
perform at The Jamaica Queen,NY Jewish Center back in the spring
of 1965.
Chuck did some ****ick with "Mr.McNasty" and he performed his
L&H Impressions(Without The L&H Hand Puppets).
He also appeared in the show as"Dr.Zebra" and as"Little Orphan
Annie".
The"Beagles"puppets performed"Beatles"Tunes and "Mr.McNasty"
did a lip sync to Louis Armstrong's rendition of"Hello Dolly"..while a mustched,
little man puppet tooted a horn.
A balloon came out of the horn and the little man puppet went up into
the rafters of the puppet stage..until the balloon popped and the poor little
puppet crashed down to the stage.
Funny!
Better than what "The Muppets"could do!
My mother, aunts and cousin were with me,when we saw the
show.
Sadly,my mothers and aunts never found Chuck and Paul and
the puppets funny.
But?
My cousins and I did and we had a ball watch our heroes make us laugh!
I didn't get to meet Chuck and Paul after that show..I did meet them many
years later and I told them how much they ment to me as a kid.
And that I watched them at that show.
They were grateful that I remembered their worked..and that
I enjoyed their stage show.
I just wished that I could have taped or filmed that PA that they
did..or at least got an autographed from them.
Well..At least..I did get to see them and I did meet them nad
became their friend.
Even if that meeting came many years after the fact.

Dear InAFog,
Thanks for your kind reply about your father
Mr.Herb Sheldon.
I remembered him from the last NYC based kids tv shows that
he hosted on WOR TV Ch.9 in NYC from September,1959 to May,
1962.."The Looney Tunes Show"(Which was later retitled:"The Herb
Sheldon Show")and "The Mischief Makers".
On the latter series..Mr.Sheldon would entertain and inform his
viewers..inbetween the reruns of the silent"Our Gang"/"Little Rascals"
film comedies.
Sadly,those silent"Our Gang"/"Little Rascals"films were poorily edited
and were not popular with the kids..who prefered to watch the sound era
"Our Gang"Films.
"The Mischief Makers"went off the air on WOR TV Ch.9 in NYC
in June,1961.
The only memorable thing about that show..was Mr.Sheldon
driving onto the set of the show in a small model t car.
He drove onto the set in that little, anitque car..still sporting
his straw skimmer, striped or checked blazer, white shirt and bow tie
or neck tie.
Making Mr.Sheldon look like a carnival or circus barker.
He also Co-hosted The UCP Telethons on Ch.9 with Mrs.Jane
Pickens Langley(Later on she remarried Mr.Hoving and she became
known as Mrs.Jane Pickens Hoving),Mr.Dennis James and Mr.& Mrs.
Steve And Edie Gorme' Lawrence.
The UCP Telethons were Mr.Sheldon's last tv appearances..sadly..
we lost him in the summer of 1964 to a heart attack.
You say that you are one of his children..but?
You didn't tell us if you are one of his sons:Guy Or Randy or
one of his daughters..Lynda or Amy?
If it is possible?
Could you please tell us all here at The "Blast From The Past"website..
if you are One Of Mr.Herb Sheldon's daughters or..one of his sons?
Thanks For your reply and Thanks For Remembering your father
and one of my kids tv heroes,
Fun City Man!

Dear Clark Street Kid,
Some well known kids tv hosts/performers recorded their
own narrations of Messers:Tripp & Kleinsinger's beloved kids
musical story.
Chubby Jackson recorded:"Tubby The Tuba"for ABC/Paramount
records,Sonny Fox did his own narration of the story for Simon Says
kids Records and Johnny Andrews did his own telling of the tale for Peter
Pan Records.
Paul Tripp himself recorded his own narration of "Tubby"For Golden
Records..Mr.Tripp's narration of "Tubby The Tuba"is now available on
CD.
Thanks For Remembering:"Tubby The Tuba"and his creators:Paul
Tripp And George Kleinsinger,
