Not his mistake, he just quoted me and I made the mistake, and should have known better. Thanks for the pick up, I guess we were talking about heating water so hot just snuck in there.
Update - Meenan oil quoted me 2400. Had a private plumber come by and give an estimate. He ballparked 2300-2400. Will let me know for sure tomorrow when the supply store is open.
If both are the same, should I go with the oil co. Or the private plumber?

Costs sound about right. I'd go with Meenan because I'm guessing they warranty their work, of if there's a problem, you won't have trouble finding them.

Hire a private plumber and install an el hot water heater for about $800. Save yourself $1600 upfront, and a few hundred a year. Doesnt that sound like a no brainer????

The electric would cost me as much in the long run. Electric bills will be more.
I contacted a private plumber. He gave me the same estimate as the oil company.
It is an oil fired water heater which is much more $ than an electric or gas.
I priced an oil fired tank from Home Depot which would be a special order and it was 1200 just for the tank. The motor was another 700. And then I would need to find someone to install it.

Your wrong. I made the switch last year and couldn't be happier. I'm saving $.
