Please, all the complainers, all the whiners, and all the people that hate , people with money, or generally people that don't fit the way you want them to be (AKA make LI look like Bed Stuy or SoBro), please stop trolling and please look to another forum.
This is for people to talk about LI not politics. It's getting on my nerves. This thing has happened in the past and it was just as annoying. There is no Rainbow here, no NAACP, no KKK, no ACLU...

Reason: don't make this racial
I have been lurking for a while now and have seen the opposite. If anything this place is full of people whining about the undesirables. Which after reading for a while I have learned to mean people of color, poor, and immigrants (legal and illegal).
If "anyone unlike themselves" means people who commit crimes, bring property values down, diminish the quality of school systems, spray graffiti on neighborhood walls, live noisily and uncleanly, and wreak havoc on neighborhoods in general, then what's so bad about keeping those people out? Doesn't everyone want to live in a nicer place? Those who work for it and can afford it and obtained it an a lawful manner should be able to enjoy it!

I know what you mean, but isn't it kinda hard to talk about towns on LI (or anywhere) without getting into politics? At least a little?

If it were just a matter of people not wanting bad people in their neighborhoods I would be fine with it. But defining people by their color, place of birth or economic status is wrong. Now if you have a personal reason to dislike a person or family in your neighborhood then so be it.
I am a 26 year old black college grad w/ a job as an engineer. I currently own a home, and found my way to this site because I am looking for investment properties. All this from the son of a poor single mother with 3 kids. None of whom became thugs or are on welfare. While I do know people like the ones you guys described I know a lot more who are not.
But I am still pulled over by the cops, and followed in stores. So excuse me if it is hard for me to accept your preconceived notions on people. And who is and is not acceptable in your communities before you have even met them.
And before any of you spout off that I am one of the good ones or the exception, know that I am not. Because if you saw me on your street you would call me an undesirable, and treat me just like you would the anyone else you deem as such.
Take a moment to read the Terms of Service.. I have posted only a small portion regarding some of the threads that have been created within the last couple of days.
Stay on topic. Attempts to hi-jack threads by switching topics or going off topic will be deleted and infractions issued. This is not a chat room - when people hi-jack threads by posting messages that are of interest to only few people, the threads often stop being useful discussions of initial topics.
Hate speech, racism or bashing of ANY sort will NOT be tolerated. Rude posts will be removed and infractions issued. Do not quote or talk to trolls or your posts will also be deleted. Use the report feature instead.
