are they out of their minds?? why would homeowners agree to let the power company control their appliances?? The absolute gall of anyone to come up with a plan like this!

If they REALLY want to help, they can lower the rates.

I don't think too much of it, however the one tone I don't like is the control aspect.

Living modestly is something I'm used to, so having the heating off and coping with blankets or having the AC off and just keeping still and under a fan are things I know how to deal with.

I don't want this to become a power trip for the power company is what. If too many people save, they will probably hike up prices and you'll be left with another man in your house so to speak, even worse off than before.

The solar panel aspect is great but should be done separately. (to apply solar panels in land fill areas to make those plots of land at least a neutral if not net positive to our environment)

Anything and everything proposed by LIPA/PSEG will be to the detriment of the rate payers. The big decisions that could and should have been made were never and now LI gets to pay the piper (so to speak). Highest rates in the 48 states.

LILCO used to do this. My parents volunteered to have a shut off put on our pool filter in exchange for 100 bucks/year or something like that. I do not ever remember the utility shutting it down.

I have the old LIPA edge program which is where they installed an internet controlled thermostat in my home. THey can curtail the thermostat by raising the ac at peek times. I have had it for years. I honestly don't ever recall them doing it but if they did there is an easy override.

The thermostat is great too. When I am not home I can control the heat and AC. Great stuff.
