It was on the news. Glitch with the system, plus nobody knows whst the hell is going on.
The exact definition of a "school" day for example. Some people got tickets even though school is technically closed for the summer but because the school had some kind of summer activities going on they were issuing tickets. The exact rules of the system have not been properly put out there for the public to really know the deal is. Do you get a ticket @21mph or what?

(n) Days means calendar days unless otherwise indicated as school day or business day.
(1) School day means any day, including a partial day, that students are in attendance at school for instructional purposes. The term school day has the same meaning for all students in school including students with disabilities and students without disabilities, except that, during the months of July and August, school day means every day except Saturday, Sunday and legal holidays.
It looks like the definition that includes the summer only applies to students with disabilities, but how is the general public supposed to know whether a school has special education students also?
The statute does set the speed though, it states that you have to be traveling "more than ten miles per hour above the posted speed limit in effect within such school speed zone". NY VTL 1180-c(b)
It was very sneaky how the county went about this whole program, hoping this is real because I got one of these tickets haha.

On News 12, it was reported that someone got 11 tickets. I guess they live near a school. They had no idea that school is open.
I'll bet they will never program this thing correctly wtih all the variables of a school calendar. Sometimes, different districts give the kids different vacation days for Christmas and Easter/Passover. How are dirivers passing by a school supposed to know that?
What difference does it make? Drivers should be required to slow down by schools no matter if it is open or not. This way it will teach them to always go slow by the schools.
