It has seen a lot of renovations and new construction over the past decade. It does flow into Hicksville so if getting into the Jericho schools is important to you then ensure it is a Jericho address within this development. As far as rich v. "not rich" goes, I think that more applies to some of the students your children would go to school with who live in Brookville, Muttontown and Old Westbury, which have signifcant parts that are zoned for Jericho.

I disagree on a couple of points. There is more wealth in the Birchwoods then in the neighborhood the OP is looking in and yes, Brookville and Muttontown have even more wealth. Home prices in the Birchwoods start at a higher price point, you will not find a small cape in either of those neighborhoods. Yes, some homes in White Birch are being expanded or in some cases knocked down and rebuilt but overall it is also more "affordable" then the Birchwoods.
The Catholic population you referred to in these neighborhoods (South of the Northern State) was historically more blue collar - Cops, firefighters, teachers etc. I am not saying there is a divide among people in the town along wealth. However, yes in the schools I am sure there are some issues related to the money that some have.
I would no longer describe Jericho as heavily Jewish it is now heavily Asian. Either way, there is no dangerous area in Jericho and I think a home purchase there is a solid move.
