Curious on what people think of this area in Huntington. It looks like it can be an okay area. Anyone familiar with it?
I'm familiar with the area and the house - it's our company listing.
However, you're asking strangers (who really don't know you) if it's an "okay area". What's an "okay area" to me, may not be an okay area to you or vice versa. IMHO only you can determine the answer--by taking a look at the location yourself.
What meets your definition of being "okay" ? Crime? There are many different resources online that show you crime rates and where crime takes place. Just Google it. Even then, crime is probably not specific to one or two streets... so it's kind of pointless to ask "is XXX street safe?"
that area is fine. the main complaint you'll hear from locals is that it is in an area where the majority are african-american. There really isn't any major crime in the area, it is definitely safe. i would say that the main "down" to the home is that the school district is south huntington, which is OK., but elwood is very close and is better, same for harborfields. there are a few homes on little plains road that are in harborfields that are around the same price, i would check them out too. the main downside to little plains is it is a busy road.
I think that area is Greenlawn with a Huntington address and Huntington School District. If you go a bit more north in the same neighborhood then it turns into Harborfields SD.
I think it's an alright area. I haven't heard of any crime from the area.
it's not the nicest of areas, houses are not well maintained either. doesn't look great either... not saying not safe - I just personally wouldn't live there, but I did live nearby on the other side of Dix Hills Rd.

The house in question is in the South Huntington SD (#13), not Huntington (#3).
