Pretty sure we're not NYC and the video sheeple den will not be on a major subway line. It will make some money. Fixed incomes going to support fat pensions. If it's half the excitement of Race Palace it should be a real hoot. Maybe they will add some decent entertainment, boxing, MMA, dancing etc (if this is in fact a real story). That MIGHT attract some attention. It's not a bad area for that sort of thing although it will be congested. Paramount of Huntington styled stuff, but then, OCR in Westbury is certainly not walkable, user friendly Huntington.
Not a bad area for that sort of thing??? It's a huge building on the unbelievably over congested Old Country Road. There are miles of huge shopping malls and giant stores, and I'm NOT even talking about Roosevelt Field Mall!

That's Nassau County. Everything has to go in a commercial area. You want to tangle with Ma and Pa Nimby?! Mangano doesn't, that's for sure! Of course it should go at the Hub but no developer will touch it. The old Source is attractive to developers if the county will sweeten the deal with tax breaks or public/private partnerships since there is parking and the buildout is minimal. Besides, you realize it was BUILT to be a working department store right?! It's not falling from the sky onto some undeveloped green space. Better a dumb casino than another untaxed empty retail outlet. It's a stupid idea and another desperate, transparent money grab but for the county the location makes sense ie "not a bad area for that sort of thing."
Who exactly would oppose it? I know that area has a Westbury address but not part of Westbury proper. Who's residents have to speak out against it? Carle Place or Garden City?
