If you take Jericho you have two choices - cut through Floral Park (which is actually pretty easy) or go straight down Jericho to Nassau Blvd but that would be a long aggravating right as I noted above.

There is no straight line road that leads from Jericho straight onto campus.

I like the Jamaica/jericho route better as it seems to have less turns. the exit 34 route probably is less mileage but for a first time drive i would want the straight line jamaica/jericho route. im great at directions but for a first time trip in an unfamilar area i like a straight line route without a lot of turns. i don't even use a GPS

like i say i would have to make this trip twice a year for 3 years so maybe on subsequent trips i would use exit 34
You can go whichever way you want, but the way I described will always be faster. Going through Jericho Tpke near the Queens border, especially during commuting hours, is just stop-and-go due to traffic lights.

Here is a Google Maps traffic report at 8:30 AM on a Saturday. I highlighted your route. Green means little traffic, yellow means moderate traffic, red means heavy traffic.

As you can see, the route is pretty much all green. You may get caught for a few minutes at the NHP/Marcus, Hillside/Marcus, or Jericho/Nassau light, but another than that, there will be little traffic to speak of.

The Campus is between South Ave. and Cambridge Ave. There are entrances from both streets. Parking Field 1 is currently closed while they construct the new nursing building. Do call ahead and find out where you are permitted to park as a visitor. There's food on the lower level of the student union building.

As you proceed south on Nassau Blvd., you will cross over LIRR tracks. Soon after, you'll make the left onto South Ave., but if you miss it, you can make the left on Cambridge and there's an entrance from Cambridge as well, just after The Waldorf School.
