Hey, does anyone know any updated information or any inside scoop on when the LIRR plans to be finished with the path to Grand Central Station. I know it has been extended and delayed many of years but just wandering. I live in East Rockaway and work in the UES and going to Grand Central Station will cut down my commute i'm guessing like 15-20 min, which is pretty significant. I anticipate thoug, waiting a long time for this to be completed...

It's amazing how much money commuter pay into this program, and totally not even close to deadline.

Let's make bets-what would be completed faster-the LIRR east side access or the Second Avenue subway? Guys, no offense, but Moscow subway was built in a record time, all due to Joseph Stalin severely punishing those who were stalling plans or were negligent in their duties-people were working around the clock to complete the project that was deemed to be the "face of the city". I am being sarcastic here and in no way advocate his methods, but the centralized approach to infrastructure often yields better results.

Don't hold your breath. The LIRR and MTA keep taking money from the capital plan to fund deficits in the operating budget. The capital plan is something like $15 billion underfunded right now. Expect them to slow, delay and cutback on all their programs. We'll all be traveling in flying cars driven by robots before they finish these projects.
