$750,000...where would you buy??
If you had $750,000 to spend on a house where would you buy and why? Dh would be working in Garden City. Must be very family friendly with good schools. I want my kids to feel safe riding their bikes. Would like to have the convience of good shopping and restaurants...but they don't have to be right around the corner. Thanks for you input!

I would go to Long Beach because I love the beach, boardwalk and community life. You can get a very nice house for that price, although not waterfront unless you go for a condo. The area has really blossomed into a town full of nightlife, good restaurants and other amenities... but please note that I did move from there, so I am biased. BTW, I didn't move because of LB but because of the cost of living in NY. My pension would just go farther for us down south.
Second choice would be Rockville Center. I love the victorian style homes that pepper the town. There are plenty of great restaurants along Sunrise Hwy and its perimeter. I have a few friends who live there and have several nice families that reside in RVC. It is conveniently located close to the Southern State and would be an easy commute to Garden City.

I thought they were more pricey than that.
(I wouldn't buy in Garden City even if I could though.)

Sorry Rocafeller, you I don't think you can get beachfront anywhere in the Carolinas for $750k.... maybe Delaware?
