Look, I don't know why there's even any surprise... from Albany to LI, the Queens line to Montauk, the fix is in. From the governor to our incompetent county executives, they are looting our pockets. The scam is brazen and the perpetrators are without remorse. It's getting worse, not better (despite Gov. Andy's pocket change rebates on our huge property tax bills).
While I don't have a crystal ball, this ends badly for most of us taxpayers.
If you're one of the few that actually get out and vote, it really doesn't matter because your favorite political party (Demo or Rep) will only offer up the latest hack, soon to be con-artist, who will only complain the prior administration ran the budget into the ground.
If it wasn't so personally costly to me, I'd actually be able to laugh at this tragic comedy.
