once upon a time oil heating was cheap. From a commodity standpoint, its far easier to transport oil than to transport gas. With various moving factors like unrest in the middle east, speculation, inclimate weather, etc....this has cause more volatility in the oil market. Currentlty there is an overbundance of gas. No one knows what the future holds & if you claim you do.....you would be living in your own private island

If most people who have oil would take a couple steps they can get their oil systems on par with gas usage.

First and foremost, and the cheapest is to add insulation!! Sooo many homes out here have shoddy insulation. Spend $400 and get your roof to a R-49 value or have a company do it for $800-1,000.

Second, add a outdoor reset to your current boiler. Will cost about $400 and will save you about 5-8% a year in oil consumption.

While your at it install a motorized backdraft damper in your boiler flue. Installed about $350. Savings=5%.

These additions right here before you can get you saving some serious $$ in the long run.
