Once the home is under contract it will be automatically removed from the major websites such as MLSLI.com and Realtor.com. Agents have more discretion over their personal web sites. They will sometimes leave a listing up longer in order to generate buyer leads for other properties. As for the "sold" sign, that is completely discretionary. Some agents like to get one up as soon as possible in order to show the neighbors how quickly they have sold the home. Others never put one up. A day or two before closing the sign will come down altogether so that it is not there when the new people move in.
