You could also park in Laurelton for free and take the LIRR from there (141st Avenue & 225th Street).

New Hyde Park used to have municipal parking for non resident commuters too but that was awhile ago when our daughter lived there.

You can drive and park at stations in Queens like, Saint Albans, Queens Village or Hollis. You're car may not be there when you get back though.
