The location of this proposed "casino" in Medford is nowhere near the community. It is isolated on the south side of the expressway between Rt. 112 and Horseblock Rd. There is no community there; just woods, the expressway, and junkyards.

It's where the old Brookhaven Multiplex was and there's actually a neighborhood - along LI Ave - right behind it.

Sorry, that's a community. People see a run down, black neighborhood and figure it's okay to stick a casino there because the blacks don't care enough to fight it. How are people going to get there? Only way really is Sunrise or 495. Not enough parkways/expressways out here to hold that kind of traffic.
Hey, I'm not a supporter of the planned "casino", but compared to the more densely populated areas of Medford, that location is practically in the middle of no~where. I live in Medford, and I am aware that there are some homes on LI Ave.
Out of curiosity I looked up Medford demographics and it states it is mostly white (86%) and Hispanic (18%) (I don't see how 86 + 18 equals 100% so this appears to be an error)

Are the numbers wrong based on your personal experiences? I looked into it and there is a group on Facebook fighting the casino with less than 900 members - I am guessing many people who live there are in favor.
I don't see how a casino would be good for property values but from the sound of it Medford might be the best place for it. I know I would visit on my way to/from a Montauk trip.
**I don't want my post to appear racist or slamming any race or town) - I am simply stating numbers. Personally I judge people and places on an individual basis and never by the color of their skin**
Medford is bordered by some areas with higher crime issues and larger numbers of sex offenders. North Bellport to the south, Gordon Heights to the north, and Coram to the north west. A casino in Medford could do irreversible harm to the community.

That's kind of like saying a headcold could do irreversible harm to someone with bubonic plague, isn't it?
Man, do any of you travel out east? It's like Long Island doesn't exist after 110. There is a strong community out in Suffolk. I've been living out here for almost 2 years now and have seen more community than I have when I lived in places that say they are all about the community.

Your being just as racist. Medford is not all black either. I can show you some huge mansions and a very good condo complex in Medford.

Yes, I'm a racist. Which is why I'm saying that the last thing those families and kids need is a casino.
I can show you some mansions in Hempstead and Patchogue, too. Are you saying mansions cannot exist in troubled towns? Hmm...you sound racist.
