I believe your child is going to be of the same good character, too. Keep up the good work

I never called you or would even suggest you're jealous, silly goose. We've brought our feelings and beliefs to the table and have agreed on some, saw others differently, but in the end, I think we have more in common than we know
That comment wasn't meant for you.. I was addressing pizzpedro with that one because he said my post sounded jealous.. but I guess it did come across as having answered you on that..LOL
You and I will teach our chldren respect, morals and a good work ethic. That will carry them further than any high dollar gift.
Now for this State of the Union Address....ugh...I have yet to hear anything of substance.

No substance whatsoever.. he sounds like an inflated gas bag that is just boosting his bologne.... Funny how one side of the room stood up at one point and the others just sat there like yeah.. whatever.. LOL But I guess the debat on all that would be for another board..LOL

I totally agree. You hit the nail on the head. I worked darn hard to get where I am, and I will continue to work hard to STAY where I am. And a huge part of that includes having a school district relatively free of things that would effect the quality of my child's education.

Who exactly do you guys want to exclude?
It sounds to me like you are content to let the rest of the Island go to hell as long as you get to keep your little exclusive part of it free of non-Whites and Working Class Whites.
Oh Well. You ignore reality at your own peril.

Who do I WANT to exclude? Anyone who might bring difficulties to my school district, to be quite honest.
I don't want the rest of the island to go to hell. Not at all. I just don't want to be forced into a school district that no longer reflects the demographics of my community that I pay a very high price to live in (taxes and home cost). Simply b/c that consolidation would only change MY SD for the worse, not the better. If that ever happens, you better expect to pay a share of my $18,000 property taxes. Heck, I expect to pay the same exact tax as you since you seem to feel we all should have consolidated schools. So let's talk about fair. Not fair to pay $18,000 for property taxes but the guy who pays $5,000 has the same school as your children. You can't want what you want only when it benefits you.
As Pizzapedro said, we are ALREADY paying a lot more than the rest of you. You want our schools, but do you want OUR taxes?

YOU'RE PAYING MORE PROPERTY TAXES BECAUSE YOU HAVE MORE HOUSE, MORE LAND ETC.!!! Property taxes are based on the appraised value of the home. AND CONSOLIDATION WILL NOT CHANGE WHERE YOUR SCHOOL IS OR THE DEMOGRAPHICS OF THE PEOPLE THAT SURROUND THAT SCHOOL!!!
Excuse me.. but I live in an 1100 square foot house ona 60x 100 lot.. I'm sure your taxes are more becasue you live in a bigger house on a bigger plot of land!! DUH!
And perhaps your ridiculous taxes wouldn't be so ridiculous if the districts were consolidated.. after all the demographics of your neighborhood and a las the neighborhood that your school is in that your child will go to will not change..

I don't live where I live because I want to be away from any class of people. I am 50% "minority" myself. I live where I do because I want my kids to be in a great school district. There are places where you can have a $3 million house and still be in a so so school district. I spent the money and I (and do spend as far as taxes) because I want my kids to be in one of the top school districts. Not to keep them away from anyone.

Taxes are based on school district as well as property size and house sq footage.
So according to you, an acre of land in Northport will have the same taxes as an acre of land in Brentwood??????
Take a gander on MLS and then come back to answer my question. Location Location Location
And a 60x100 property in Massapequa will have the same taxes as a 60X100 property in Elmont?
Tell me again about why I pay more taxes than you please.
