Anyone else notice the preference of the media for NJ and Westchester?
- you are sitting on the LIE in wall to wall traffic and try a traffic report on WINS or WCBS and they tell you about every minor fender bender on every tiny road in NJ and say nothing about LI roads?
- Every report details the GWB, Lincoln and Holland... With nothing about LI. Routes to the city?
- the LI Srction of the Sunday NY Times is now "regional" with no front pages about LI issues.
We have over 2 million residents, don't they remember us??

right you are. If they do mention Long Island it's always last, like an afterthought.
I always wondered if that is because we have some excellent local stations that report the LI traffic, perhaps that is not the case in NJ.

KJoy leads the way with great traffic along with WBAB and the other LI stations, but ONLY during rush hour. I wrote the original post from my Blakberry while on the LIE on Sunday afternoon. My wife was driving, btw!
Great traffic report during rush hour... what about driving other times? If I am stuck in traffic on LI in mid day or a weekend, I could care less about some dope with a "disabled vehicle on Route 3."
I'm sitting on the Meadowbrook wondering if I should take an alternate route, and I hear about Route 3, then someone else in Wayne... and another accident on 287... and NOTHING about Long Island.

We can b-tch about this here all we want, but the truth of the matter is that we need to tell the stations themselves and to write the FCC which licenses the stations. That will get their attention.
We might also speak to our County leaders and ask them to send a letter to the General Managers of the stations and tell them about our displeasure.

I always say that... I thought I was crazy. Bloomberg runs little ads...New Jersey and/or Westchester's favorite ride to work (or something like that). Also, why do all these NYC stations always visit/run contests in Jersey, talk traffic, etc??? Odd.
BTW, I think we're over 3 million people...
