Private Catholic or Jesuit Schools on Long Island
Moving to LI this summer, my son is going into 3rd grade and I am asking for recommendations on great Catholic or Jesuit Schools as follows:
1) Private Schools in Nassau
2) Private Schools in Suffolk
3) Internet Sites that rank/report on these schools
Our budget is $2000 - $5,000/yr.
Thank you!

You're not going to find a "true" private school for 5K anywhere.
You may consider parochial schools which run about 3500 - 4000 a year, plus uniforms, donations, etc. Typically. it costs about 5K or more a year.

That reminds me of Brother Louis coming down the hallway with hs rosaries clanging and all the kids singing (quietly) " Louie Louie Louie lo-eye . Louie Louie you're gonna die" pretty scary stuff if Brother Louis had actually caught us !

Our parochial school is $4600 per year for one, $5500 for two.
We are in suffolk and our boys are in 2nd and 3rd grade.

Is that including all the "extras", like the "mandatory donation" to the church and the "mandatory donation" to the school and the uniforms and all the other stuff?

Oh, and the original poster asked if there was a site that does rankings on these schools..... Not really. Since Catholic/Parochial/Private schools are private, they don't have to publicly publish their NYS test scores. You can look around the net, though, and see if any of the schools you're interested in has a website of their own. Their site will most likely only tell you about the school and not about their actual academic performance
Where were you thinking of moving to?

I remember those old frustrated penguins (nuns) with their rulers and threats of violence.... In today's world, they'd all be in prison! LOL!

We have one mandatory fundraiser ; each family has to pay $40 for the year book. Uniforms ; they are ok. Donations ; its up to you. Registration is $150 per child per year. Otherwise its 10 monthly payments of $550 for two children.

Dorothy, you have it GREAT!
We have a 'mandatory donation' to the church of $500.... another "mandatory donation/fundraiser" of $500 to the school.... tuition is $375 for one child in 11 monthly payments ($4125/yr).... $100 registration fee..... there is no year book but, of course, there are pictures 2x a year..... uniforms, plays, overpriced trips, $$ for this that and the other..... It probably runs close to 6K a year for one child.
Does your school have hot lunch? If so, how much is it? Ours charges $3.00. They also sell snacks for 50 cents -$1, milk for 50cents, and have a gatorade machine.

Our school does not have a cafeteria, so we get deli food ; it is hot. It costs $2.00 per day. Snacks ; .50 to 1.50. No machines at all here.
We do NOT have to get the photos but I usually get them. uniforms ; I usually just replace what i need ; the boys do not wear the sweaters, so thats not necessary. Shirts ; target shirts are good. Plays ; they go to a play twice a year and it costs I think about $15.00. Trips ; not there yet. The church likes you to make a donation of $900 per year, BUT if you do, you can get a distount of $900 on your tuition!!
What school are you in? pm me if you want to.
