my Husband and I are thinking about selling our house but we have converted half of the garage into a bedroom and added a full bathroom to the finished basement. I am not sure how to start the process of getting a C O in place for both of these. On a second note is a full garage more valuable then an extra bedroom and a half garage?

Easiest way is to hire an expeditor. Also the most expensive way.

If doing on your own, I would suggest speaking to an architect to see how much to draw up the plans to legalize.

Definitely go with an expediter. They are nothing more than a bribe to the town to get your co.

Several questions to answer your question. Without the garage bedroom how many bedrooms do you have? Is it heated, if so how? How long ago was it converted?

Is the basement finished in addition to the bath and is there a co for that? Do you have an egress door or window down there?

You could be opening yourself up for a lot of stress and trouble, if you need to bring electric to code and plumbing to code. If the basement is finished and no egress you will probably need to add that too.
