Thank you. I'm not the only one thinking this way. With property tax in the $15k range and the bevy of cost in maintaining a home in LI, $200k is what you’d need to live comfortably middle class lives, for a family of 4 at least.

At 150k your doing much better than most people. Even people with two incomes.
Enjoy your desk job alot of people kill themselves to make a fraction of that.

200K for family with no kids is pretty good in NY and its nearby suburbs. Bring two kids into equation and this 200K is a minimum you need to live comfortably.

150k household is already comfortable for 4. That's assuming you don't tack on unnecessary and perpetual car payments or the like. No daycare. But you could do multiple kids activities and have savings still.

200k is getting into upper middle class.

200K Gross (145 after- state and federal tax net...and you might as well knock off another 15K for property tax so reduce that to 130k) is solid middle class here on Long Island...if this was an off-the-books 200k salary you are talking upper middle class. Big difference between the two.

My old boss years ago at an internet start up with stock options cleared 12 million one year. Think about that he made 150K in salary every three days. It is all relative
