Where in Nassau County should I buy?
What school district should I move to? I would appreciate a few suggestions in Nassau County. Here are my criteria:
1) Good to very good schools (but not super competitive like great neck or Jericho)
2) Above average number of professionals in area but also some blue collar (not entirely upper class like manhasset)
3) Easy commute to the city
4) 650-700k house with about 2000 sq/ft or more! (I don't want to be the poor people or rich people with a house in that price range)
I've heard that North Shore, Syosset, Port Washington, Rockville Center, and Bethpage might be options?

I would look into Plainview although i don't know about their train service. THe syosset train station offers an express into Penn station but syosset may be more of a competitive school district than you would prefer. The plainview-old bethpage school district is good. You can definately get a good house there as well for your budget. Good luck.

Massapequa south of Merrick road is a good option.

In Rockville Center, Port Washington and Garden City you would definitely be on the lower end, and I know you stated you did not want that.
Syosset would be a GREAT option. Schools are great, train to the city is convenient. And prices really vary there and you would be smack in the middle. If I were you, this is where I would focus. Maybe PW...but recall what I stated above.
Bethpage is a good choice, but not really an easy city commute.

I think for that much you'd do pretty good in RVC, there are tons of homes that are a lot more modest than $700k there....look around MLS, some very nice ones in that price range.
In Bethpage you would be a very rich man.

True, I forgot what he said about not wanting to be the richest either.
Scratch Bethpage.
I would focus on Syosset and maybe RVC (depends on what section if you would be richest or poorest though), two areas I myself looked to buy a home.

Thanks for the info. After doing some house searches on the MLS it seems Syosset and RVC might make good choices. PW seems a bit steep and Bethpage might not fit for me. How about Plainview or the North Shore school district region?

Plainview would not really have an easy city commute.
PW has the best city commute, hands down. And RVC is great for city commute as well.

Try Williston Park - often overlooked but great area. Close to everything and trains and schools are very good.

A majority of the homes below $700K in RVC aren't in the RVC school district. That being said, I think RVC is a great town and is worth looking at.
