If by "winning" you mean reducing it from 15K to 12-13K then you're correct. Of course, then Nassau will play around with the rates again and it'll go back up in a couple of years after it's reassessed....

$15k is high, but because Roslyn has top schools, it may be normal THERE. For the OP, taxes consist of general and school... school is what brings it up a lot, especially if you have good schools. Avg in other towns is probably $10k total.

Most people are not desperate to get out. Most people just hate the high taxes, but live with it because it is still within their means with higher salaries in the area. The ones who want out are the ones who ***** because that's how it works. The ones who can still afford it stay quiet and you won't hear about it.

OP, others have covered grieving taxes, but if you really want lower taxes in general, you're going to have to find a town that doesn't have top 10 schools. You get what you pay for as far as that goes. Since you have a 3yo, I know that's a priority.

wait till the10-1-2015 school tax bill comes out. Maybe the condo is now a lot higher than 15k a years
